Comprehensive Cancer Services
Hospital-Grade Electrical Wiring
As the largest private cancer practice in Northern Virginia, Virginia Cancer Specialists continues to grow to serve more patients, expand its service offerings, and conduct cutting-edge cancer research.
GHT provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) engineering design services for the relocation of Virginia Cancer Specialists’ Arlington practice to a new healthcare facility.
The new facility provides comprehensive cancer services ranging from radiation oncology to musculoskeletal tumor surgery. The infusion area required thoughtful design considerations to include zone thermostat control and diffuser selection to ensure a comfortable environment for immune-compromised patients. The MEP systems cater to the healthcare environment through increased airflow changes for improved ventilation and hospital-grade electrical wiring for patient and provider safety.
In addition to patient care, the facility conducts research and clinical trials through the Virginia Cancer Specialists Research Institute. To facilitate this research, the practice is equipped with clean and soiled supply rooms, a lab space, and a bio room. The soiled supply room, lab space, and bio room utilize exhaust fans to negatively pressurize the spaces to ensure contaminants aren’t released into the clean spaces.
