GHT provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design engineering for the 587,000 SF office building located at the Ballston Exchange in Arlington, VA. GHT also provided LEED Administration services.

Renovations focused on modernizing the property and creating a connected work environment. This included a new multi-level retail experience, Class-A office amenities, and upgraded tenant services. New office VAVs with Energy Management System Interface were installed contributing to the sustainable design. Four chilled water AHUs were installed on each office floor.

The project also included four levels of underground parking and covered access to the metro station and Ballston Quarter.
GHT’s Sustainable Programs studio provided an energy model to help inform design decisions and integrate sustainable features.
Stafford Place I is the former home to the National Science Foundation and constitutes one half of the 776,000 SF Ballston Exchange development. GHT has a long history with the site previously providing MEP studies and assessments.

Stafford Place I is the first office building in the state of Virginia to receive LEED Silver under version 4 of the BD+C green building rating system.
