As National Landing’s largest public space, the Water Park offers a venue for guests to dine, celebrate, and explore.
With ten food service kiosks and a full-service restaurant and bar, the Water Park features everything from fried chicken sandwiches to gelato. GHT provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) engineering design services as part of the development of this National Landing community space.
Integrating ten 300 SF food service kiosks throughout the site required the implementation of a complex array of MEP systems. To coordinate the systems throughout the space while remaining out of sight, the GHT team ran pipes and conduits underground while navigating existing utilities, preserving existing trees, and avoiding any obtrusions to the park setting.
For the full-service restaurant and bar at the Water Bar, GHT designed radiant heating to create a comfortable indoor-outdoor dining space. To further account for the outside conditions, GHT incorporated high volume low speed (HVLS) fans for the summer months. For the immersion fountain and water features surrounding the Water Bar, GHT collaborated with a specialty fountain consultant to provide power and make-up water to the underground fountain mechanical room.
Expanding on the food options offered throughout the venue, the 1.6-acre park features ample outdoor seating, a live performance stage, and a trailhead building adjacent to the Mt. Vernon Trail with public restrooms and bike facilities. The trailhead building will soon connect to the entrance of the anticipated Virginia Railway Express station, opening in early 2027.
