GHT provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection (MEP/FP) engineering design services for Planet Direct Mail’s Headquarters in Manassas, VA.

Spanning 113,000 SF, this industrial headquarters seamlessly integrates administrative offices with expansive areas for shipping, receiving, printing, binding, and mail operations and delivers a comprehensive environment that supports the company’s full spectrum of services.

To support the facility’s extensive operations, the mechanical system incorporates zoned rooftop units (RTUs) throughout and high-volume, low-speed (HVLS) fans within the warehouse and print spaces, which reduced the energy usage of the RTUs and increased occupant comfort.

The facility’s robust electrical infrastructure features dual 2,000-amp services, ensuring reliable power for high-capacity printing equipment, air compressors, and a paper trim and scrap collection/recycling system. Energy efficiency is a priority, with LED lighting installed throughout the building. Fire protection is enhanced by an Early Suppression Fast Response (ESFR) sprinkler system powered by a dedicated 100 HP fire pump.
