James Hansen supports GHT’s comprehensive efforts to be a top choice for MEP engineering when a sustainable program certification is part of a client’s objective. As the leader of GHT’s Sustainable Programs Studio, James provides oversight and leadership for the process for projects pursuing LEED or WELL certification. He also provides guidance and support to the firm’s overall sustainability approach, collaborating with corporate leadership to encourage employee accreditation; develop best practices; and provide sustainable design resources.
A senior mechanical engineer with over 20 years of experience, James also provides engineering design, energy modeling and project management support for a wide range of projects in the Building Systems, Interiors and OES Studios. He has extensive experience with the US Department of Energy’s building modeling engine (DOE-2.1E) using multiple interfaces, including DOE-Plus and eQuest. James is also familiar with CONTAMW, the building pressurization/smoke control modeling software that is becoming the accepted method for verification of stair pressurization design in the Washington, DC area.
James is a Professional Engineer registered in three states and the District of Columbia.
