LEED Silver

GHT provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) engineering design services for the Mount Olivet Self Storage facility, a newly constructed development located in Washington, DC.

The project includes approximately 81,000 SF of occupied area across six floors above grade, including a penthouse, and one full cellar level. GHT’s design supports the facility’s core program areas, including extensive climate-controlled storage zones and a 1,500 SF ground-floor office suite. Systems were engineered to balance energy performance, durability, and maintainability, key requirements for self-storage operations.

With six occupied stories above grade and a cellar, the facility required coordinated vertical infrastructure to ensure consistent environmental conditions across all levels. GHT engineered system layouts that maximize usable storage area while maintaining code compliance and operational efficiency. The project team implemented sustainable design strategies to meet the client’s goal of achieving LEED Silver. GHT supported credit pathways related to energy optimization, indoor environmental quality, and efficient building systems, integrating green approaches feasible for a storage-centric program.
