James Yang Recognized with ASPE DC Award

GHT is pleased to announce that Principal James Yang received the American Society of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE) DC Chapter’s Plumbing Engineer of the Year Award at their Winter Social and Awards Ceremony on February 17, 2024.

As described by the ASPE DC chapter, the Plumbing Engineer of the Year Award honors a current member who has demonstrated excellence in plumbing engineering through successful project execution and problem-solving, performing duties with professionalism, leadership, and technical expertise.

ASPE plays an integral role in the advancement of plumbing engineering design, providing a platform for industry experts to discuss codes changes, design methods, innovative technologies, and lessons learned. For more than 20 years, James has been an active member of the ASPE DC chapter, organizing chapter programs, connecting with fellow industry experts, and presenting on the latest technical advancements. As a former chapter president, James has been an advocate and resource for his ASPE colleagues, supporting their professional development through mentorship and training.

In addition to the individual award, Amazon HQ2 Metropolitan Park, a project GHT collaborated on, was awarded Project of the Year in recognition of innovation in design, integrated sustainable technologies, and positive impact on the community, environment, and industry. “As the lead plumbing engineer for the project, James utilized cutting-edge plumbing design strategies, such as water source heat pump technology for domestic hot water supply, greywater reuse, and stormwater recycling to achieve LEED Platinum certification for Amazon’s HQ2 development”, says President Patrick Kunze. James’ work on this award-winning project has set the stage for the future of plumbing design, and GHT is proud to support him in his passion for advancing plumbing design for our industry and within the firm.
