Resiliency is our industry’s latest buzzword – but what does this mean and how can we incorporate it into today’s building designs? In this latest session from the engineers at GHT Limited, we will explore what it means to futureproof a commercial office building in the Washington DC Metropolitan area and design strategies to help owners prepare for global pandemics, unpredictable severe weather and changing climates.

  • Learning Objective 1: Participants will understand how climate changes are impacting the Washington DC Metropolitan region and the significance of indoor air quality in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Learning Objective 2:Participants will be able to identify how passive ventilation strategies such as operable windows and solar chimneys provide energy savings while ensuring resiliency.
  • Learning Objective 3:Participants will be able to recognize how solutions for water savings such as graywater reuse and rainwater capture contribute to resiliency.
  • Learning Objective 4:Participants will understand how Dedicated Outdoor Air Systems (DOAS) and conditioning outside air can improve a building’s resiliency over traditional heating and cooling systems.
