Three White Flint North is part of the North Bethesda Center mixed-use development. The new 14-story facility houses nearly 1,500 federal employees in a sustainable environment that supports productivity and collaboration. The project achieved a certification level of Gold under the LEED for New Construction & Major Renovations™ rating system.
The design team achieved five Exemplary Performance credits, including a 40% reduction in potable water use through the use of water-conserving plumbing fixtures. GHT also contributed an energy recovery strategy to counteract efficiency losses from increased ventilation and provided individual lighting controls to 90% of the building users, achieved cost‐effectively by being incorporated into system furniture task lighting. Additional design features to optimize energy performance and deliver an energy cost savings of more than 15% include improved envelope performance, efficient fenestration, reduced lighting power densities, economizer, high efficiency chillers, condensing boilers, and variable speed pumps.
