Sidley Austin opted to renew its lease and renovate-in-place at 1501 K Street NW. GHT provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) engineering design for the multi-phase, occupied renovation of eight floors.
During construction, one floor of the law firm would swing to another floor for 6-8 weeks. The space is comprised of partner and associate offices along most perimeter areas, interior flex areas and collaborative work rooms, a conference center, kitchen, and IT/LAN areas. The 6th floor conference center features multiple conference rooms of various sizes and a 2,000 SF catering area. Supplemental ventilation and latent cooling were designed for the 6th floor to support its high occupancy uses.
The kitchen and server room are served by a dedicated, standalone AC unit. The AC unit is a variable air volume (VAV) serving series fan-powered terminals. Additional amenities include a full-service cafeteria, common lounge with a double-sided fireplace, fitness center, and 400-person multi-purpose room.
