The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) at Constitution Center features an active chilled beam HVAC system and was designed using Revit® MEP building information modeling (BIM) software for mechanical systems. GHT provided accelerated mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) engineering design for the fit-out, located on the P1 Level, Plaza Level, and floors two through 10 in the Northeast and Northwest quadrant of the building.

The project earned a certification level of Platinum under the LEED for Commercial Interiors™ rating system, and is one of the largest interior fit-outs in the District of Columbia to achieve Platinum certification. GHT’s design created a 56% reduction in HVAC energy use and lowered the lighting power density 38.5% below ASHRAE 90.1 requirements. In addition to chilled beams, the project’s sustainable design features include occupancy and vacancy sensors, thermostats for every private office, time clock control to initiate automatic shutdown of lighting outside of building hours, and multi-zone lighting control in conference rooms and multiple occupant spaces.
