The Morris & Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation Arts Center at Montgomery College houses instructional art studios, support facilities, and faculty offices. The new building serves the College’s School of Art + Design (relocated from the Pavilion of Fine Arts) and the merged programs of the Maryland College of Art & Design (MCAD); Montgomery College’s central computer facility (relocated from the Rockville Campus); and community art studios/organization office space.
The center provides up-to-date instructional art studios that meet current requirements and respond to the needs of the merged art programs. It’s development was part of an overall plan to enhance the College’s South Silver Spring property.
GHT provided MEP engineering design for the HVAC distribution system including rooftop air handling units, secondary chilled and hot water distribution systems, VAV air distribution systems, and specialized exhaust systems for the classrooms.
