Junior Achievement of Greater Washington partnered with Fairfax County Public Schools to create Junior Achievement Finance Park, an experiential financial literacy center. Built with the support of Signature Sponsor Capital One and other members of the local business community, the center offers middle school students a venue for interactive education on building financial skills. The children complete a classroom curriculum; participate in real-life decision-making activities; and explore career options and future goals with mentors.
The 20,000 SF building features executive offices; a conference room; staff meeting room; 150-seat auditorium; mock bank and credit union; and the Deloitte College and Career Center. The center also features nearly 20 storefronts where students can learn how to plan for the major components of a personal budget, including education; healthcare; transportation; housing; utilities; pharmacy and grocery; insurance; clothing; communications; furniture; home improvement; entertainment; dining out; investment; philanthropy; and vacation.
