Leading DC Metro Area MEP Firm Focuses on Creative Design and Sustainability
Arlington, VA (February 11, 2019) – GHT Limited (GHT), a leading DC metro area mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) engineering consulting firm, is pleased to announce the promotion of James Hansen, PE, BEMP, LEED AP to Senior Principal.
Since joining the firm twenty years ago, James has provided valuable leadership to expand GHT’s sustainable programs. “During his tenure with GHT, James has served an integral role in the development of sustainable initiatives at GHT,” says President, Paul O’Brien, “James supports GHT’s comprehensive efforts to be a top choice for MEP engineering when a sustainable program certification is part of a client’s objective.” As the leader of GHT’s Sustainable Programs Studio, James provides oversight and leadership for projects pursuing LEED or WELL certification. He also provides guidance and support to the firm’s overall sustainability approach, collaborating with corporate leadership to encourage employee accreditation, develop best practices, and provide sustainable design resources.
A senior mechanical engineer with more than 20 years of experience, James also provides engineering design, energy modeling and project management support for a wide range of projects in the Building Systems, Interiors and OES Studios. He has extensive experience with the US Department of Energy’s building modeling engine (DOE-2.1E) using multiple interfaces, including DOE-Plus and eQuest. James is also familiar with CONTAMW, the building pressurization/smoke control modeling software that is becoming the accepted method for verification of stair pressurization design in the Washington, DC area. A professional engineer licensed in Maryland, Virginia, Washington, DC and New York, as well as an ASHRAE Building Energy Modeling Professional (BEMP) and LEED AP, James earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from University of Virginia.
