Getting to Platinum | A LEED v4 BD+C: NC Case Study

1 AIA Learning Unit (GHT-ME-050217)
1 GBCI CE Hour (0920014189)

New construction from the ground-up presents significant opportunities to design for efficiency, sustainability and the optimum user environment.

This course, led by senior GHT staff members, will provide an overview of the LEED v4 BD+C rating system. A case study will be presented for the design & construction of a theoretical new commercial office building project and participants will learn strategies to achieving Platinum certification under the latest rating system. Additional focus will be paid to LEED v4 areas which impact the building’s mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) systems, with attention on efficiency components.

  • Learning Objective 1: Recognize and understand changes to the LEED v4 BD+C scorecard
  • Learning Objective 2: Recognize how targeting the LEED BD+C Integrative Process credit early in design can support overall project success
  • Learning Objective 3: Be knowledgeable about LEED BD+C credit realignments and changes to requirements between LEED v3 and LEED v4
  • Learning Objective 4: Explain how updates to underlying baseline standards, such as ASHRAE 90.1, affect overall requirements for performance and efficiency on LEED BD+C: New Construction & Major Renovation projects
